This three-part continuing education series, Reproductive & Maternal Health: Improving clinical competencies, provides mental health professionals with a critical and clinically grounded understanding of reproductive and maternal health across the lifespan. Drawing on frameworks such as reproductive justice (Ross & Solinger, 2017), reproductive identity development (Athan, 2020; Gerson, 2018), and multicultural feminist psychology (Comas-Díaz, 2008), this training series equips clinicians to address the mental health needs of individuals navigating complex reproductive journeys. Participants will gain critical competencies in identifying and treating a range of reproductive and maternal mental health concerns. Throughout the series, participants will reflect on their own positionality and clinical blind spots, and will leave with tools to offer affirming, socially conscious, and clinically effective care to individuals impacted by reproductive and maternal health challenges.

Part 1 explores how the stages of menstruation to menopause intersect with mental health and identity formation, emphasizing lifespan development and cultural context.
